PURPOSE/SCOPE OF JOB
The Advisor (Security & Resilience) will deliver an effective, timely, and holistic operational security and resilience provision in order to meet the firm’s operational requirements and, inter alia, be responsible for providing support to the Security & Resilience (SAR) Department in ensuring corporate assets, security and weapons systems, and related equipment, are ready in all respects to conduct the firm’s transport operations, fully compliant with those requirements stipulated within the pertinent national and international legislative and regulatory frameworks.
Furthermore, he/she will support and assist the Head of Security & Resilience in the provision of both operational security and EP&R related advice as required and to the firm’s on-call team, customers and stakeholders.
POSITION IN ORGANISATION
Provides intelligent customer utility to and supports the Head of Security and Resilience in accordance with current delegations and approval processes.
Support the EP&R and OST areas in meeting the expectation of Regulatory bodies (ONR, MCA etc.).
Assist in the delivery of international nuclear security and resilience consultancy utility.
This post therefore supports two separate areas dividing the resource equally.
QUALIFICATION, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS
The role requires an individual capable of working at all levels across the firm, especially with customers, regulators, partners/suppliers and other stakeholders in order to develop and deliver an effective operational security and resilience provision.
Typical qualifications, experience and skills required are:
Good first degree or Level 5 qualification and/or at least 3 years’ experience in a security/ EP&R related environment
Completed NSAN Triple Bar
Member of a Professional Affiliation (e.g. UK’s Security Institute or the Institute of Risk Management (IRM))
Desirable Qualifications :
Degree in a security/EP&R related subject
Certificate of the Business Continuity Institute (CBCI) qualification
Good knowledge and experience of all applicable regulations, conventions and good practice relating to nuclear security and the arrangements therein
Experience of assisting in the production/delivery of Transport/Site Security Plans / Operational Orders
Experience of assisting in the delivery of domestic and international transports of nuclear material and of customer and stakeholder expectations
Experience of producing Operational Requirements (OR) documents
Experience of assisting in investigations - good level of integrity
Excellent knowledge and experience of all applicable regulations, conventions and good practice relating to nuclear EP&R and the arrangements therein
Experience of producing/delivering EP&R Operational Orders
Experience of leading the delivery of domestic and international transports of nuclear material and the management of customer and stakeholder expectations
Experience of working within a Project Management environment
Good interpersonal and communications skills and ability to engage at all levels
Demonstrable understanding of risk and EP&R management including BC
DUTIES AND KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
In assisting the delivery, a strong and robust operational security and EP&R provision the Advisor (Security & Resilience) will provide, but not be limited to, the following:
The firm’s transport schedule; leads security planning, arrangements and delivery, including provision by security partners/suppliers, is delivered effectively, efficiently and in accordance with the firm’s and act as the intelligent customer providing necessary advice and guidance on the adequacy of such arrangements in order to meet regulatory compliance
Build upon key relationships with External Stakeholders especially CNC, BEIS, RN.
Ensure seamless delivery, whilst driving efficiency and partnership approach
Deliver credible international consultancy capability (IAEA, KCL, WNTI etc.)
Represent the firm’s at security meetings, conferences & forums (IAEA, etc.)
Assist with any training and exercising activities
Produce operational orders and other documentation as required
Undertake any assurance activities as required
Assist in the compilation of security risks in line with company risk appetite
Any other task required by HoSaR or Senior Managers (Security & Resilience)
Process ownership for the management and development of the following:
Support delivery of Transport Security Plans
Support delivery of any national or international coded date system
Support all operational security and EP&R projects and process maps
Be expected to support implementation of corporate/management decisions & initiatives
Manage own workload, including time and deadline management, performance, self–development, health and well-being
Mandatory requirement to form part of the out of hours on-call team
