The Role Description
The role of the IT security Architect within the Cyber Security Resilience Programme (CSRP) is to formulate and deploy good Information Technology security architecture policy and advice to the NDA group. A credible and experienced professional, the CSRP IT Security Architect will support the CSRP to update and improve the security posture of the organisations, primarily in respect of their Enterprise IT networks across the estate and their emerging use of cloud services.
The role will be working in a small team of Security Architects and reporting to the Workstream Lead Security Architect. This will be a pivotal role and needs to provoke real change across the agency to a more secure design for IT systems. The skills the IT Security Architect will bring to the programme will allow the individual to;
• Investigate and understand the key IT technology deployed by the NDA
• Identify the main security weaknesses suffered by the NDA
• Influence key technical stakeholders across the NDA, in order to provoke rapid and consistent improvement
• Formulate generic IT technical policy , architectural patterns, mandatory standards and security design documentation.
• Provide assurance of the progress and security of the IT security improvement programmes across the NDA.
• Where appropriate, contribute to the development of internal processes and systems and improve operations as the CSRP matures.
• Provide of contribute to strategic and tactical management reports to show the progress of projects.
The IT Security Architect is expected to maintain a level of high performance and high quality in both external as well as internal work. The role will be supported by colleagues throughout, regular reviews will be undertaken between the IT Security Architect and their line manager and the individual is encouraged to raise any issues, ask any questions, to innovate and think of their feet and to participate freely in the CSRP vision.
Qualifications / Experience
Significant experience in the design, build, deployment and securing of Information Technology systems.
Significant experience in the selection and securing of cloud services.
An organised, self-reliant and experienced senior Cyber Security and Information Assurance technical consultant.
Self-aware and will good levels of emotional intelligence, able to work with colleagues contributing to evolution of the project team as it’s mission develops.
Critical thinking, problem solving, organisational, planning and time management skills are essential.
Excellent communication and negotiation skills and attention to detail.
Strong leadership skills effective at board- level.
Able to work independently or as part of a team.
Willing to travel extensively with assignment away from home likely to be long term .
HMG SC Clearance or the ability to obtain.
